I, too, am a Professional

I, too, am a professional.
They are in the darker suits.
They ask me what I do for work
I answer,
But they laugh,
I teach the next generation,
To learn,
And grow strong.

Tomorrow,
I’ll be at the head of the class
When the bankers and lawyers come.
Nobody’ll dare
Say to me,
‘You’re so smart, you could do anything,’
Then.

Besides,
They’ll see how influential I am
And be amazed –

I, too, am a teacher.
